It was a beautiful morning to start my day. The sun was shining and the breeze was cool, but the only thing nagging at my mind was the auction my daughter would force me to go to. I heard her car pull up into my driveway, honking for me to hurry into the car. Only a little annoyed, I got into the car and she sped away. She told me “we have to be there in time because the best item they are auctioning off is the beautiful Oriental rug in Chicago.” She was so excited about this rug that by and by she got me a little giddy as well. As we arrived and walked through the doors where the auction would take place, we heard the man announcing the starting price for this rug and we anxiously and hurriedly sat down. I had to strain my ears to actually hear what the man was saying because he was speaking so quickly. When I finally heard the price of the rug I was astounded. But my daughter kept going at it as the price rose until no more bidders yelled for a higher price. I was so happy for her when she finally won the rug. As we were walking out the doors with her well-bought item in her arms, she handed it to me and told me “Happy Mother’s day!”
